Cath Longhurst CEO of Basingstoke Consortium and EBP South won the Lifetime Achievement Award at The News Business Excellence Awards on Friday 1st February; for her incredible work in inspiring and preparing young people for the world of work over the last 18 years and continuing to do so.
She is a leader in connecting business and education across Hampshire for the benefit of young people, providing a range of career services and opportunities for young people to experience the work place or connect to professionals in industry to give them opportunities they may not otherwise have experience.
Cath is an outstanding leader that has shown resilience and created a charity that now works across Hampshire the Isle of Wight and surrounding areas. It brings together organisations, businesses and schools for the benefit of young people.
The award was a complete surprise for Cath Longhurst who was shocked and delighted to be announced as the winner of The News Business Excellence Awards. Cath said to The News ‘First and foremost my success is down to team-work. I have an amazing team of people behind me. Secondly it is down to our amazing business partners. I work with thousands of businesses and schools and it wouldn’t be possible without their support.’
Cath has taken EBP South through the vast changes to the income streams and government careers support by building a resilient sustainable charity that has been able to continue providing a range of services to meet the need of young people.
EBP South and Basingstoke Consortium works with 100’s of schools, colleges and educational organisations; 1000’s of businesses, organisations and business leaders and; councils and partners. Providing support to help businesses reduce the skills gap and helping them to play a proactive role in supporting the next generation.
